I think I have an immature sense of humor

While subbing on Wednesday I was a Journalism teacher.  This particular teacher also teaches freshman English and had the assignments for her classes written on the dry erase board.  The freshman are currently reading Romeo and Juliet and had some small reading assignment associated with the project.

The journalism class had a worksheet to do and once the kids were done, they all just chatted with one another quietly.  And then I heard this converasation:

Idea Kid to Listening Kid: "Dude, you should erase that and write 'Gnomeo and Juliet'."

Listening Kid: "Should I?"

Idea Kid: "Yea."

Listening Kid: "Will I get in trouble?"

Idea Kid: "Yea, she'll get really pissed."

Listening Kid: "I don't want to get in trouble."

Idea Kid: "Just do it."

Listening Kid: "Ok."

Then he proceeded to erase the assignment title 'Romeo and Juliet' and wrote 'Gnomeo and Juliet'.  And I watched the whole thing and did nothing.

It was just too funny!  And I loved that it was such an innocent joke where no one got hurt, and yet the boys were still concerned about getting in trouble.  I'm hoping that they really didn't get in trouble because then I'd feel bad.  But I think it's part of my job as a substitute teacher to not stifle creativity, so I'm hoping for the best.
