What is a tangelo? We don't know. I saw them at Fareway 3 for $1 and decided to buy them. They kind of look like oranges. The peel is thick and they smell more tart than oranges, but mixed with another scent that we can't pinpoint. I suggested pumpkin but Kaitlyn didn't agree with me 100%. And then later she did agree with me. Once peeled, they're more squishy than clementines, and we've already dripped juice twice before even eating them.
Tangelos have a weird nipple-like top. Awwwwkward.
But how do they taste?! Well, kind of sour. And they're mega juicy, in that when you bite into one, juice goes everywhere and you feel like you didn't even eat any fruit. They're very chewy and some of the wedges have seeds in them, but you can see them so you can get them out.
Taleen's opinion: "It's ok, but I would prefer an orange or a clementine. This is just too messy for not enough citrus flavor. Would possibly be good for making fruit juice, but since I've never done that before I would have no idea."
Kaitlyn's opinion: "I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them, but I will continue to eat it."
So that's it! Now you can take our expert opinions and use them to decide if you too would like to experience the adventure of eating tangelos.
