Awesome Iowan: My Aunt Cheryl

Yesterday in the mail I received a hand-written letter, which might be one of the greatest treats ever.  I LOVE getting personal mail, especially when it's a total surprise.  And today I knew my mail surprise was going to be especially amazing because it came from my Aunt Cheryl, an awesome Iowan.

Cheryl lives in Eagle Grove, a town that was named for a tree with a bunch of eagles living in it that was later cut down or something like that.  She and her husband live on an acreage near a cemetery (creepy!) and raise chickens.  They also host an annual massive family reunion, called Weberpalooza, which everyone that reads this blog is invited to.

So why is Cheryl getting a special shout out today?  Because her mail was none other than a list of 99 Things You Gotta Do In Iowa This Year!!!  Highlights include the world's largest strawberry, a hobo museum, the most crooked street in the world, and a mule cemetery.  This is valuable information that I will most definitely be using in my adventures around Iowa. Which means that I will then be sharing this information with all of you!  Get ready for it.

Thank you Aunt Cheryl for being so thoughtful and sending me this amazing list!  I am super super excited to visit some of these unknown state gems.  And congratulations on being today's Awesome Iowan!  It is most definitely deserved.
