On Friday I had the chance to substitute teach for high school English. The day was great, because most of the kids took tests or quizzes, and those that didn't worked on writing their research papers, a topic I unfortunately know too much about. While one class was taking their quizzes, a boy who had already finished indicated to me that he had a question. I waved him up to the front of the class and this is the conversation that followed.
Inquisitive Child: "Do you watch Jersey Shore?"
Me: "Yes, but I haven't watched last night's yet."
(pause)
Inquisitive Child: "Who's your favorite?"
Me: "Pauly D. Who's your favorite?"
Inquisitive Child: "JWoww. She's really hot."
Me: "Ok."
Inquisitive Child: (stands around for a few seconds, then decides to sit back down)
(end scene)
I feel like maybe he was trying to act out by asking me this, but then it possibly backfired. I really don't think he expected me to be a fan or Jersey Shore, probably because he thinks I'm 80 or something. Oh children, how fun it is to foil your little plots.
