Christianity and Star Wars

Did you just see that title?  That's right, this blog is about to get deep.

A couple of weeks ago I babysat a 4 year old and his 9 month old sister.  The baby went to bed almost immediately and then the little boy and I played Wii and hung out.  We started playing bowling and tennis, which was great because I have these games and had some idea of what I was doing.  But then we played Star Wars Lego and it was a disaster.  I had no clue of how to play and more than once this conversation played out:

Little Boy: "Come over here!"
Me: "I don't know which one I am!"
Little Boy: (exasperated tone) "You're that one!"

Clearly I was terrible.  After a while we went back upstairs for a snack and the boy and I started talking about Star Wars.  The conversation mostly consisted of me asking about a character and him telling me what kind of light saber they had, if they were good or bad, and whether or not they have the Force.

Then, out of the blue, the boy says, "Jesus has the force."

I thought about it for a minute and then said, "Yea, Jesus does have the force...."

How cute is that!?  I thought it was adorable that he would combine these two areas of knowledge.  You know that no one taught him this statement because it's generally considered bad taste to use science fiction movies to teach about something as serious as Christianity, but I think this little boy might be on to something.  Because, let's face it, Jesus does kind of have the force.
