Getting Paparazzi'ed

During my first weekend living in Danyang, I had the pleasure of going on a short boat cruise on the river with some of the other foreign teachers and one girl's parents who were visiting for the week.  The river by Danyang has these three giant rocks in it that the boat drives around while you take pictures like a crazy person.  It's a fairly popular tourist spot for Koreans but isn't very well-known by Westerners.  And this little fact created quite the awkward situation for me.

I was sitting next to my new friend, Rose, just enjoying the sunshine and the boat ride, when all of a sudden a woman with a gigantic camera came and sat in front of us.  She held up her camera to take pictures and I thought that she was trying to look past us in order to get a better view of the giant rocks so I kindly leaned to the side so she could get a better shot.

And then her camera followed.

That's right.  This lady got out of her seat, came to sit in front of me and Rose, and then proceeded to just take pictures of our faces.  Without talking to us.  Or even making eye contact.  I got paparazzi'ed by a Korean woman.

What happened to me on a Korean boat cruise.  Accurate representation.

  1. I thought people in Korea were suppose to be "shy" and request to take a persons' photo. How rude and shocking. I haven't seen you on YouTube or anything strange like that. Please be careful about these sort of people, I don't want you to be kidnapped or something. Love the blog...keep it up
