Yea, this is me you're talking about here

A local Des Moines news station recently reported the following story:

A great day outside in Iowa Wednesday for a walk, and some Iowans even got college credit for it. Photos: Walking Class Takes A Walk Iowa State University offers a Walking For Fitness class, also called Kinesiology 164. The class observed the National Get Started Walking Day with a brisk stroll around campus.Students said there are no tests or assignments in the class. They meet twice a week for 50 minutes. The class is worth one credit."If they miss more than three classes during the semester, then they might not get the letter grade they want to see," said Smith. The students said it's the easiest class out there, but it's also trying to instill that changing your lifestyle doesn't have to be hard."We don't want it to be a leisurely stroll around. We want them to actually be conscious of what their heart rate is doing. If they're sweating," said Smith.Students walked close to two miles around campus for about 40 minutes on Wednesday. The class has 20 people this semester."You don't have to get a gym membership necessarily to improve your fitness," said Smith.

I'm going to make a few points on this article that you should mentally brace yourself for.  Get ready.

-How is this actual news?  I sort of love that someone took the time to report on this because really, it's pointless.  But no news is good news and I love that even the biggest city in Iowa is desperate for something to report.

-I do think the article makes a good point about how changing your lifestyle doesn't have to be a big deal and walking is important.  It's one of my favorite forms of exercise!

-And just exactly how did walking become one of my favorite forms of exercise?  I took Walking for Fitness.  That's right, I was a student in this class.  And I loved it.  I loved being able to take time out of my week to just go for a walk, and I was motivated to do it because I got a grade.  One of the best classes I ever took.  No regrets!
