Buy this Thing: Moccasins

Everyone deserves to have amazing footwear.  And by amazing, I mean something that is both cute and comfortable.  Lots of shoes fit this bill, but even more shoes do not.  Ok, for real, most shoes don't.  The comfortable ones make you look like you're elderly and the cute ones make you wish you had a portable wheelchair that you could whip out and use at the end of the day.  But one pair of shoes does neither of these thing.  Moccasins.

You will def want to own these shoes by the end of this post.  Trust me.

Moccasins were introduced to me by the wonderful Sarah Petersen, a friend of mine from my childhood in the Sioux.  Sarah sported her moccasins so often and so boldly, that I had to own a pair.  And once I got mine, I fell in love.  I dread rainy days because they're not good for moccasin wear (but they are good for rain boot wear!  Yes, I own them.)  Sarah buys the kind with no rubber soles because she wants to be as authentic as possible but I'm not that brave.  I have the kind with the rubber soles and I love them to death.  I wear them with jeans mostly and have successfully gone a whole day of shopping in them, worn them while standing around pretending to do nothing at Younkers, walked 16 blocks round trip, and gotten the mail.  And the best part about moccasins is that they form to your feet so you always feel like your shoes love you!

Moccasins are for ev-er-y-one.  Everyone.  So never feel like you can't own them, because I say you can.  Sarah and I buy Minnetonka's because Sarah says they're the best.  They come in multiple styles and colors and even make boot ones!   And if you so choose, you can wear them as slippers like my Mom does.  There are no rules with moccasins, just to love them and tell everyone else to buy them because they're awesome.  These are going to be the best pair of shoes you own, dear readers.

  1. Dear Taleen,

I am a man. Can I still wear moccasins?

  2. Dear Muddled,

Of course you can! Moccasins are bi-gender. That's part of their beauty. This website has a good selection (http://www.moccasinsales.com/). I think it even lists men's shoes that are specifically for driving. Is that something men do? Have shoes just for driving? I'm thinking yes.

    Good luck!
