Appropriate Nicknames

One day after school the teachers all went to dinner together.  I wasn't in a very good mood that day and spent most of dinner thinking about how fast I could eat so I could leave.  I also drank beer.  The beer helped to improve my mood.

Just as I was about to leave I was called over to sit by the school nurse and my vice principal.  Since I'd had 2 beers by this time I wasn't in as bad of a mood but I still wasn't thrilled to be staying.  But then something happened that made me happy I did.

Right as I sat down, the school nurse was shouting across the table to the head teacher these exact words in English:  "You.  Kim Jong Il.  You.  Look like...Kim Jong-il."

I immediately felt incredibly uncomfortable because all I could think was, "Isn't it super inappropriate to tell someone they look like a Communist dictator?  I think this is offensive."  But the head teacher just kept laughing along with everyone else so maybe it's ok in South Korea.  I'm still not completely sure about the etiquette behind the whole thing.

But in all honestly I was kind of glad someone brought it up.  The guy does look a lot like Kim Jong-il.
