I got pranked

I think a substitute teacher's biggest fear is getting pranked.  I truthfully have a small amount of concern every day that I work that a kid is going to pull something over on me.  Identical twins especially evoke fear in my soul.  Those people have limitless possibilities for substitute teacher mental destruction.

Luckily the kids have been nice to me and haven't tried anything too sinister beyond trying to convince me that they were allowed to walk around with their shirts untucked.  But then one day, it finally happened.  I got pranked.

This occurred during the infamous boys PE class.  After allowing the boys to pummel one another with dodge balls for the better part of an hour, I broke them up into smaller groups and they played different versions of basketball.  I walked around the gym and monitored all of the games to make sure that they kids were attempted to choke one another or launch basketballs into stage lights.

Then, all of a sudden I hear boys frantically calling my name to come over.  I look and see that one boy is writhing on the ground, clutching his face.  Now, my goal every day of subbing is to have no kids die on me.  So I immediately think, "Oh no, one of them is hurt, oh man, what am I gonna do," but I react by saying, "Albert, are you ok?  Let me look.  Albert?  What happened?  Are you all right?"

Then Albert rolls over, removes his hands from his face, and laughs loudly as his friends all join in.  He wasn't hurt at all!  Albert immediately jumped up and proceeded to run around and shoot more baskets.  He then dedicated one basket to me and actually made it.  How could I be mad after that?!  Even though I got pranked, it was still kind of funny, so I let it slide, even if I did have to try to stifle my laughter in order to prevent losing credibility.
