Dog Show!

Recently I went to Seoul to get my passport renewed.  You can actually do this by mail but you need an International Money Order and when I tried to get one in Danyang they told me Korea doesn't use paper for banking, even though they totally do.  So I just went and had it done in person.  It wasn't an awful experience but it wasn't great either.  It was like going to the DMV so of course it was super depressing.  I think you could be the most successful human on the planet and still feel like scum when you go to the DMV.  It's just that kind of place.

Anyways, the most horrid part of my visit was the when I gave the woman my photo she asked me how long ago I had had it taken.  I already hated the photo because I had a bad experience at the photo place and the retake I did was even worse so hearing someone question the photo further pushed me over the edge.  I was sick when I woke up in the morning, I was sitting in a dingy office building in the middle of Seoul, and now this lady was acting like my photos didn't even look like me.  And I was going to be stuck with this thing for a decade!  I couldn't take it anymore.  I needed to cheer myself up.  So I went to a dog cafe!

A dog cafe is a place where you pay $10 to enter and it comes with a drink.  I actually paid $2 extra because I wanted premium hot chocolate because that day I was worth it.  After you order you go and sit down and a billion dogs fall in love with you and you fall in love with them and you all bond together and experience happiness and love.  And then your hot chocolate comes and the dogs try to drink it but you don't even care because you're all best friends forever now.  Look at these photos to see for yourself!

Chinga or Cheonga. They're brothers.

Be my friend!

Camel wants to steal my drink!  She's an Afghan Hound.  So pretty!

"Hot chocolate is delicious!" says a small white dog.

This is Beyonce.  She has an eye infection but she's still beautiful.

Dogs mingling and being friendly!

Poodle!

"Hot chocolate pleasssse"

"Seriously, just one drink."

"Thanks!"

"You were just teasing?!  Now I'm sad!"

This dog's name is Sausage because he's a Dachshund.  How does that not make you smile!?!?

Dogs are friends!

A view of the dogs' play area.  In the corner you can see a couple who are looking longingly at a Chow Chow that has been dyed to look like a panda.  His name is Kung Fu.  He's my favorite.  For a while right after I got my hot chocolate the dogs were only by me and wouldn't go to the couple and I felt bad because obviously the guy was trying to impress his girlfriend and the dogs were not helping.  But don't worry, the dogs went over there eventually.

Camel!

Camel actually touched my nose with her nose because she wanted my hot chocolate so bad.  Or my friendship.  Or both.

Camel just hanging out.

Me and Paul being best friends.

Kung Fu Panda Dog!

Kung Fu hiding his excitement over spending time with me.

"Act cool man, just act cool..."

How badly do you want to go to a Puppy Cafe now?  Do you think this could be successful in America?  Do do you think that it's too much of a legal liability?  Do you think I should get a Chow Chow and quit my job and spend all of my time hugging him all day?  Yes?  Ok good, me too.

  1. I laughed reading this post Taleen! I have never heard of a dog café but it might be a great idea for here. We have dog parks so why not right? I think you should quit your job and get a dog. And play all day. Sounds like a plan to me too! Love your blog!
