At least that's what I was saying on Friday, May 17. We had the day off of school and I was ready to celebrate! I figured that Korea would ablaze with festivals but I was sadly mistaken. It was just softly lit with festivals. Still nice but not anything overwhelming.
To celebrate and experience the day I went to a temple nearby with my friend Alice and saw the festivities. There were lanterns lit up everywhere and they looked really cool. We also made friends with a middle aged Korean man who had inexplicably good English. Basically just a normal outing day for us.
Sorry this post is so late. It took me a long time to get the photos up because I had computer problems. Also, I'm not good about updating this blog in a timely manner. Mostly because I'm a little lazy sometimes. Sorry about that.
Candles lit in a lantern
A dragon that spit out real fire!
Lanterns!
A brightly lit sculpture.
I'm sure that there is much more meaning to all of this but unfortunately I don't know what any of it is. It was a nice outing though and I enjoyed my time there. Something to see for sure.
